John A. Logan College was created by public mandate in 1967 under the authority of the Illinois Community College Act of 1965. The College opened its doors to its charter class in the fall of 1968 and acquired its permanent grounds in the following year.
The following are JALC scholarships for military and veterans.
JALC student that is Marine veteran that has been honorably discharged: has or maintains a “C” average (2.000 GPA on a 4.000 scale); and is enrolled full- time majoring in a program of study within the computer Information Systems Program. Recipient can receive scholarship for a second year if all information remains the same.
Veteran student attending JALC and receiving benefits through the Veteran Services Office at JALC. Student may be full or part-time in any program at JALC. Preference will be given to a United States Marine – but not required.
Nursing student; resident of southern Illinois, i.e., graduate of a southern Illinois high school, or completed GED in southern Illinois; preference will be given to a veteran or a descendant of a veteran; Director of Nursing should recommend.
