Loras College is a private, 4-year educational institution that was founded by Bishop Mathias Loras in 1839. Remaining true to its Catholic heritage, the Loras educational experience (both inside and outside the classroom) challenges students to grow with purpose and direction. The college is situated across 64 rolling acres in Dubuque, Iowa and has a total undergraduate enrollment of 1,463. The college offers over 40 academic majors and has graduate programs in business analytics, school counseling, psychology, athletic training and counseling. Rooted in the liberal arts and committed to preparing students for a changing world, Loras strives to develop active learners, reflective thinkers, ethical decision-makers and responsible contributors. Numerous Loras programs are consistently ranked or recognized nationally--sport management, mediation, media studies, Dance Marathon, wrestling, soccer and other athletic programs, just to name a few. Our students' commitment to serving others has earned Loras a place on the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll since 2008, "with distinction" since 2009. In 2014, Loras College was the first college in the nation to receive the President's Award for Interfaith Community Service. Of the nearly 4,600 higher education institutions in the nation, Loras was solely selected due to its strong institutional commitment to sustain and build upon interfaith engagement and service grounded in the College's Catholic tradition. 99% of the 2016 graduates were employed or continuing their education within one year of graduating. 84% of these graduates were employed in an industry or in a position related to their academic area of study.
