Anthony Pilota

Veteran Services Coordinator

I grew up in South Suburbs of Chicago and attended Homewood-Flossmoor High school. After High School I Joined the United States Marine Corps. in July 2010 and served with 2nd Tank Battalion, Delta company and did 1 combat tour to Afghanistan in 2013. After leaving the Marine Corps. due to downsizing in July 2014 I started attending Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) in August 2014. While attending SIUC I worked in the SIUC Veterans Center as a VA work study and served many leadership roles across campus as President of the Student Veteran Associations, Founder of the SIUC Society for Advancement in Management, Founder of the Southern Illinois Student Veteran Housing Fund, and Vice President of Operations for Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. I also served as a councilman for the Marion VA Hospital Veteran and Family Advisory Board which allowed me to became a Certified DBSA Veteran Peer Support Specialist during the summer of 2016. I became the PNW Veteran Services Coordinator in September of 2018 and graduated with my Bachelors in General Manage from SIUC in May of 2019. I love my job and you can constantly find me in the PNW Veteran Center talking and sharing stories with other veterans. Best job I ever had.
