The opportunities for local students are extensive, as SCC offers everything from associate degrees with direct entrance into state universities to technical programs and courses for students still attending high school. The success rate of students who continue on to the University of North Carolina is one of the feathers in SCC̠s cap. In general, the curriculum can be broken down into majors designed for 4-year degrees, technology programs designed for direct entrance into the field and programs in the healthcare profession which include both elements.Sandhills maintains an open-door policy when it comes to their admissions department. Standardized testing is not mandatory, thought it may speed the class placement process along (the Acuplacer test will be required if not). In general, the GED certificate or standard high school diploma is the necessary foundation for students looking to attend college courses in the North Carolina State system.
