Message from The College of Saint Rose

At The College of Saint Rose, serving student veterans and their families is embedded in our mission and history. Starting in 1946, when the College first opened its doors to World War II veterans, we’ve continued to build on this tradition of providing the veteran community opportunities to excel, both personally and professionally.

There’s a reason why we topped the Military Friendly® School list for the last four years and have been named a Military Friendly® School for 10 consecutive years. For qualifying veterans and their family members using the Post 9/11 GI Bill (maximum), we are a 100% uncapped Yellow Ribbon School. We have a dedicated, secure space on campus — The Veteran Center — where students can relax between classes, do homework and connect. To support your transition, the Veteran Residence Hall provides a year-round, different from a traditional dorm room. It is equipped with a full kitchen, living room, laundry facilities, and single rooms. And, championing our students, we’re proud to have Martin Dinan as our director of veteran enrollment along with our Assistant Director Nick Lanier, both veterans of the U.S. Army.

Other Resources and Benefits:

  • Receive college credit for military training, including PE credit for basic training.
  • For those who are not fully funded under the Post 9/11 GI Bill®, we offer the Massry Veteran Scholarship.
  • Receive expert guidance and support from Marty and Nick who can help you navigate your military benefits and set you up on a path for success.
  • Join the on campus chapter of the  Student Veterans of America, a social and informational organization for student veterans, alumni, and friends.
  • Access the Albany Stratton VA medical center, a partner of the College’s, which is located down the street from our campus
  • Leverage the VA’s work-study program, which allows eligible students to earn up to an additional $8,000 per academic year for doing work to help veterans and other military families.
  • Saint Rose Accelerated Programs which allow you to complete two degrees (Bachelor’s and Master’s) in four years, maximizing your GI Bill benefits.
  • Our Flex MBA program, which lets you take classes any time, any way that fits your schedule.
  • Join our Nursing program, to continue your service to the community.
  • Take part in our first of its kind in New York State Sales Management program to gain an edge in a competitive job market.
  • The Online Master’s Programs offer the opportunity to advance your career, including Master’s Degrees in Educational Psychology, Computer Science, and certificates in School Business District Leadership.
  • Army and Air Force ROTC programs to train the next generation of military leaders.
