The College of Saint Rose Veterans Overview

At The College of Saint Rose, serving student veterans and their families is embedded in our mission and history. Starting in 1946, when the College first opened its doors to World War II veterans, we’ve continued to build on this tradition of providing the veteran community opportunities to excel, both personally and professionally.

There’s a reason why we topped the Military Friendly® School list for the last four years and have been named a Military Friendly® School for 10 consecutive years. We are a 100% uncapped Yellow Ribbon School, which can cover large portions of tuition and fees separate from funding acquired through the GI Bill. We have a dedicated space — The Veteran Center — where students can relax between classes, do homework, or connect. A Veteran Residence Hall provides an alternative living space to a traditional dorm room, equipped with a full kitchen, living room, and laundry facilities. And, championing our students, we’re proud to have Martin Dinan as our director of veteran enrollment along with our Assistant Director Nick Lanier, both veterans of the U.S. Army.

Other resources and benefits:
  • Transfer up to 15 college credits for military training, which includes PE credit from basic training.
  • Qualify for the Massry Veteran Scholarship, which helps those who are not fully funded under the Post 9/11 GI Bill®.
  • Receive expert guidance and support from Marty and Nick who can help students navigate their military benefits and are a huge resource in other ways.
  • Tap into our partnership with FourBlock, a career development organization for veterans, to secure resources needed to succeed at school and future careers.
  • Join the Student Veterans of America, a social and informational organization for students, alumni, and friends.
  • Access the Albany Stratton VA, a partner of the College’s, which is located down the street from our campus
  • Leverage the VA’s work-study program, which allows eligible students to earn an additional $8,000 per academic year for doing work to help other military families.
  • Work with faculty and staff who have experience in Green Zone training and are learning how to become better student veteran allies.
