The University of Montana (UM)

As Montana’s public flagship research university, the University of Montana in Missoula (UM) is home to over 11,000 students rigorously pursuing their passions and education in a bountiful location. UM offers over 500 degree pathways, including associates, bachelor's and master's degrees, as well as certificates.

Every student is encouraged to explore the bounties of the Treasure State while attending UM. Grizzly Battalion ROTC

Get direct leadership training in the only program on campus that guarantees every student a job after college. The minor in military studies, better known as Army ROTC, is offered to any student who is interested in and qualifies for military service. By committing to the program, you agree to serve as a military officer after completing your degree.

Our ROTC program instructors are active-duty military officers and enlisted service members with expertise in combat arms, military intelligence, aviation, logistics and more. Most have served in command positions, and many have served overseas.

ROTC students develop strong leadership, critical thinking, time management and problem-solving skills. They are excellent, service-minded decision makers trained in risk assessment and mitigation. All these skills are highly sought after in the military and by employers in virtually every civilian industry.
