Sam Surowitz

Director, Military and Veteran Programs and Services (MVPS)

Sam is proud to serve as the inaugural Director of Military and Veteran Programs and Services (MVPS) at the University of Dayton. Over the past few years our programs have grown leaps and bounds, and we now have a comprehensive MVPS student center! Sam served in the Army on active duty from 2007 to 2011, graduating from Airborne and Ranger School and deploying to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Djibouti. From 2011 to 2017 he served as a Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, and as a Drill Sergeant in the Army Reserve. In 2018 he was commissioned after graduating from Officer Candidate School. Sam earned an Associate of Applied Science and an Associate of Arts from from Cochise College and Brookdale Community College respectively. He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Public Administration from the University of Connecticut. Sam has earned several Project Management Professional Certificates from Cornell University and Purdue University and is working on a Graduate Certificate in Project Management right here at the University of Dayton.

Government Contracting & Procurement Program - Master of Studies in Law (MSL)

Looking to enter a new career field? Are you looking to progress in your current career? Do you want to reach the next step in your career journey?  Our program will get you there. Our master’s degree programs provide in-depth education on the laws and standards of the government contracting world.

What you need to know:

  • NO law degree required
  • 100% online
  • NO LSAT, GRE or GMAT needed.
  • Convenient evening weekly class from 6:30 - 9:30 pm EST
  • Credit for applicable military experience

What you will learn:

The program is approved for tuition assistance and is a GI Bill® approved program. Since UD is a Yellow Ribbon school, veterans with the post 9/11 GI Bill at the 100% level can complete the course with no out of pocket expenses, depending on their rate of pursuit.

The tuition is $1,325 per credit hour plus $25 each semester for university fees. Candidates must complete all 30 credit hours of coursework to graduate, although you can receive up to 7 hours of advanced standing credit. The total tuition cost for 30 credit hours is $39,750 and the total for 23 credit hours is $30,475.
