Cost of living

Location

Syracuse, NY, is located about 87 miles east of Rochester,88 miles from Fort Drum 131 miles east of Buffalo, and 150 miles west of the state capital Albany. It is also the halfway point between New York City and Toronto and a five-hour drive from Boston.

  • Jonathan Bernard Henry, MD, Student Endowed Scholarship - The Jonathan Bernard Henry Endowed Scholarship is awarded to one student from each of the four Upstate colleges for an outstanding paper, project, or another exceptional accomplishment in the selected topic areas. Award Amount: $500 Deadline: March 16th, 2021
  • Upstate University Medical Associates at Syracuse Scholarship - The focus of this scholarship is to enable an underprivileged or disadvantaged student at COM to pursue a medical career in Primary Care. Award Amount: $54,000 per academic year Deadline: N/A
  • New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) - New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) is a grant program for New York State residents based on their net taxable income. 
  • Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) - Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) funds are New York State grants that may be used to defer charges.
  • Student Emergency Fund - The Student Emergency Fund provides grants for SUNY Upstate Medical University students to pay for urgent expenses triggered by unforeseen events that threaten their ability to stay in college.
