Washington and Lee University School of Law

One of the smallest of the nation's top-tier law schools, Washington and Lee School of Law is located in a college town in the majestic Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, a three-hour drive from Washington, DC and within an hour of several other metropolitan areas.

The W&L Law seeks to cultivate broad-minded, highly skilled, and honorable law practitioners. We do so within a diverse and collaborative intellectual community, exemplifying rigor, trust, and civility.

We believe W&L Law is a great choice for veterans. We offer a small class size, individual career support, and competitive merit scholarships. There is no application fee to apply. Here are just a few opportunities that W&L offers for veterans: Excellent placement rate in JAG. JAG-oriented activities include a “JAG Week” offered by our Office of Career Strategy, inviting representatives of all JAG divisions to campus to meet with interested students.

Our active student organization, the National Security and Military Law Society (formerly WLVA), provides a forum for those affiliated with the U.S. Armed Forces, or those interested in military veterans' issues, national security strategy, or defense policy. The organizations support students during their time in law school and offers opportunities to connect throughout the Lexington area.

Yellow Ribbon participant. W&L is proud to take part in the Yellow Ribbon (YR) program. We are able to offer Yellow Ribbon awards - covering full tuition and mandatory fees - to 100% of admitted students who qualify for the benefit.
