Western Piedmont Community College was chartered on April 2, 1964, as a member of the North Carolina Community College System. In 2008, it was one of seven colleges in the state to receive recognition for Exceptional Institutional Performance based on standards established by the North Carolina General Assembly. Located in the rolling foothills of Morganton, North Carolina, Western Piedmont is surrounded by scenic views of Table Rock, the South Mountains, and Linville Gorge.
